The Beauty of nature surrounds us!

Your playing small does not serve the world, there's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us!

NELSON MANDELA.

I have spent the last three years studying computers and writing  books and poetry.

The main reason I wrote my first book “Awoken by an Angel” is to tell my story and hope that it may give hope and inspiration to it’s readers.

I have already touched the hearts of the people who have read my first book; I hope it touches yours.

I hope that you enjoy my books and poetry as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

Cheers...now it’s back to the drawing board, as I have a new project on the way!

Be grateful for what you have, It's more than some.

If we could only see into the future sometimes. I wonder if we would change for tomorrow

Decidedly Nasty.

Decidedly nasty was that pastie, when I took that delectable first bite.

Twisting and churning was my stomach for the first half of the night.

Up and down to toilet with a frown, my body rejected the feast.

I looked in the mirror, I frightened myself; I have turned into a beast!

As the cramps set in, I donned a grin mixed with spices and deli delights.

I learned my lesson, it's my confession; not to eat pasties on late tuesday nights!

Welcome to my Website!

My name is Laurence Stanway. I was born in Sydney Australia in 1964. I grew up in Sydney but later on moved to Queensland.

I have had a pretty interesting life...to say the least!

   Awoken by an Angel

Check out the book I wrote on Lulu.

Awoken by an Angel.

This is the true story of my life and times as a homeless person.

When I ended up on the street; I honestly believed that I would die there!

One morning I had an experience that turned my life around.

This book is meant as an inspirational story.

It offers insight into a life that most of us hopefully, will never encounter.

Most of the people that I met when I was on the street, are either dead or still surviving on the street.

I have had some amazing feedback about the book, a lot of my readers say that they couldn’t put it down!

Please Enjoy Your Stay.

I found the little clip below, to be indicative of attitudes toward a lifestyle that few understand...Hopefully my book shall shine some light on this very dark subject.

Newspaper article......

JUNE 13: After becoming homeless for six years, Keperra's Laurence Stanway has pulled himself back into society and is making the world his oyster.

`One week you skip your rent to pay drug debts, or you get too drunk and blow all your pay, and before you realise, the eviction notices start arriving at the door,' Mr Stanway said.

`At one point in time I lived in a cemetery, sleeping on crushed-up cardboard on top of a grave. Newtown cemetery was my address for six months and it was a great place to rest in peace.'

Now 42, Laurence decided three years ago to document his struggle with drugs, alcohol and homelessness in his book, Awoken by an Angel, which has recently been published on the internet.

`I faced many challenges during writing the book. I realised that I was quite illiterate and that my knowledge of language was limited, so I started researching the dictionary and learning 10 new words a week.'

Mr Stanway then had to learn his way around the keyboard and internet, definitely a feat for someone who lived on the streets for six years.

`When you end up homeless, it seems like there is no way out.

`You look like, smell like and act like a derelict.

`The title of the book, Awoken by an Angel, seemed appropriate. I got a lot of help from people best described as angels.'

While Awoken by an Angel touches heavy issues, Mr Stanway said it also included his humorous misadventures.

`People who buy my book online will be taken on an adventure that is packed with action, laughter, inspiration, emotions and also gain an insight into a life that most people could never imagine,' he said.
